About this piece
The Japanese fox Kitsune mask stays within the traditional fox-mask codes, but with a harder, fiercer expression. Where the traditional Kitsune stays smooth and calm, this one bares its teeth. It's the fox with attitude.
Available colours
- White Zenko: Inari's messenger fox, here in a tenser read.
- Black Nogitsune: the wild, nocturnal fox, the fierce look at its peak.
- Cracked red and gold: an aged-lacquer finish, urushi style from kagura or Noh, Inari torii red and prestige gold.
Each piece is hand-painted and varies slightly.

How it's made
I 3D-print the base in PETG, sand and work the colour by hand. The cracked version needs an extra step to break the lacquer and reveal the gold beneath.
Which Kitsune to choose?
- This one, the Japanese fox: traditional but fierce, a marked expression.
- The traditional Kitsune, the same spirit, smoother and calmer.
- The modern Kitsune, clean and softer lines.
- The kawaii Kitsune, round and cute.
FAQ
How is it different from the traditional Kitsune?
Same traditional spirit, but the expression. The Japanese fox is fiercer, more aggressive in the eyes and muzzle. The traditional one stays smooth and calm. It's a choice of character, not quality.
