The Kuchisake Mempo half-mask takes the slit-mouthed woman of Japanese urban folklore and turns her into a compact display and cosplay piece. It keeps the sharp mouth, raised teeth and horned silhouette, in a format that covers the upper face without the bulk of a full mask.

Choosing a colour

Two hand-painted colours: white or red. White keeps the colder contrast of the classic photos, red pushes the mask toward a harsher and bloodier read. Each piece varies slightly, which is normal on hand-painted work.

How it's made

I 3D-print the base in PETG, sand it by hand, then build the colour in several acrylic layers before varnishing. PETG keeps the horns and teeth more resistant than a fragile resin cast, especially for transport and convention use.

This half-mask works for wall display, photos and conventions. Wear it, set it down, or hang it by its cord or your own fixing.
