You don't just encounter a Tengu. It's the Tengu who decides to appear. Perched in ancient cedar trees, it observes, judges, and strikes. Red is its original color: the color of blood, authority, and sacred fire. When an Aka-Tengu descends from the mountain, it's never without reason.
The Tengu: Fearsome Guardian of Japanese Folklore
The Tengu is one of the most dreaded yokai in Japan. Half-man, half-bird, recognizable by its long nose, it is the guardian of sacred mountains and forests. A master of martial arts, it trained the greatest warriors of Japanese mythology. Feared by monks, respected by samurai.

This mask embodies the Aka-Tengu in its most classic form. The deep red evokes raw power and protection against evil. Lacquered finish, hand-painted details. This mask is part of the Tengu Traditional collection, inspired by ceremonial masks from Shinto temples.
