About this piece
The Hannya Mempo half-mask crosses two Japanese registers: the line of a mempo, a samurai's face guard, and the face of the Hannya, the jealousy demon from Noh theatre. It covers the lower face and leaves the eyes free, in a lighter format than a full mask.
Choosing a colour
Three hand-painted colours: red, blue, black. Red stays close to the classic Hannya you see in irezumi, blue gives a colder read, black a more understated one. Each piece varies slightly, which is normal on hand-painted work.

How it's made
I 3D-print the base in PETG, then rework the surfaces by hand before painting. Shadows and contrast are worked piece by piece to avoid a plasticky look.
Wear it or display it
The half-mask format leaves the eyes free and works for photos, conventions or display. Wear it, set it down, or hang it by its cord or your own fixing.
Shipping
Careful packaging with stickers, flyers and a note, then tracked shipping from France. Production time: around 14 working days before dispatch.
