The Messenger of Inari, modern version.

In Shinto shrines, white foxes guard the entrance. They are the Zenko, messengers of Inari, the deity of prosperity. This Kitsune reinterprets this symbolism with a contemporary execution: luminous white, gold and bright red outlines, and a high-gloss varnish finish.

It's the same design as the Purple Fox (burgundy), but in Zenko's traditional palette. The white is applied in three layers, the gold lines are drawn with a fine brush, and the bright red is added last on the ears, around the eyes, and on the lips. Two coats of gloss varnish complete the lacquered finish.

FAQ

What is the difference between this and the Traditional White Kitsune?
The Traditional version has a matte finish and more discreet markings. The Modern version has a glossy varnish finish and more pronounced gold lines, with a lacquered look. It's the same model as the Purple Fox (burgundy), but also available in white.

Why is the white Kitsune associated with the god Inari?
In Japanese mythology, the white fox (Zenko) is the messenger of Inari, the Shinto deity of prosperity and harvests. White symbolizes purity and divine connection. This is why statues of white foxes are found at the entrance of Inari shrines throughout Japan.

Is the white exactly as it appears in the photos?
The photos were taken in natural light in the workshop. The actual product is very close to the original. As each mask is hand-painted, slight variations in color make each piece unique.

How do I care for this mask?
Use a soft, dry cloth. The varnish protects the paint from UV rays and moisture. Avoid solvents and abrasive products.
